Training Options

I offer a range of photography training options in various formats, allowing you to find the most suitable method and duration for your needs. You may wish to follow a formal training option, such as a Workshop or block of Evening or Day Classes, or take a more informal option, such as a Photography Walk or Photography Tour. Or perhaps private, one to one tuition, is a more suitable option? I can also arrange specific training sessions in your location. Check out the Training Calendar.

Photography Training Options

FORMAL TRAINING

I develop all photography learning opportunities with a shared, underpinning knowledge base. This enables any training option to be taken as a stand alone learning opportunity, or equally, it could form part of your personal, systematic, development path

I also develop each training option using a principle-based approach, as I have always found this training methodology to be most effective in promoting development and competence.

INFORMAL TRAINING

Informal training options tend to be more practical based and particularly suited to those who have already achieved a basic grounding in t he underlying principles of photography. They offer an excellent opportunity to brush up on your photography skills under supervision.

Photography Walks or Tours are also a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people who share an interest in photography, which in turn offers great opportunities to build supportive networks..

PHOTOGRAPHY TRAINING VOUCHERS

An unusual gift for the photography lover

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Although it is not absolutely essential, you are likely to get more from the workshop if you have one. Many mobile phone and tablets contain cameras that allow settings to be altered, therefore you may wish to bring another device that contains a camera. To get the most from the workshops it is useful to have a camera that allows control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

Yes. A photography voucher can be used against any training option or other photography service. Vouchers last for one year from the date of issue.

I am always looking to expand on photography topics/subjects and offering workshops in different locations. Should you feel it may be feasible to run a workshop near your location I will be glad to look into the feasibility and get back to you with the outcome.

The Terms and Conditions of courses and workshops can vary and are listed at the time of advertisement. Some options do not require a deposit, although you will be informed of this when you make your initial enquiry.

The minimum age is usually 13 years old, although I also run training options specifically for young adults (14 - 17 year old) as I find that younger people prefer to be in groups of people around the same age. I also provide talks and presentations for schools and pupils of any age.

Unfortunately I do not provide the hire of equipment. Some of the workshops will have certain equipment provided, such as studio lights, reflectors, etc.

I have developed all of the workshops and courses to share the same underpinning knowledge, meaning that they can form part of a development path. I have many returning customers who use the training for this purpose.

These are informal training options where I will organise a walk around a location. Supervised instruction, tips and tricks will be offered throughout the walk.
