Astro Photography Experience
Astro Photography Experience
Date: 1 Nov 2024
Duration: 7:00pm – 9:30pm
Meeting: Findhorn
Cost: £40
Overview
The Astro Photography Experience Workshop offers an excellent opportunity to learn how to photograph the night skies and Milky Way.
Find out how to set the camera to avoid (or create) star trails. Also, learn how to produce a photograph, which contains the night sky along with highlighted elements in the landscape (painting with light)
You may even be lucky enough to capture an Aurora! (although no guarantee!)
Equipment
- a camera, which allows you to shoot in ‘manual’ with control over the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture
- a ‘fast lens’ (i.e wide aperture of f2.8 or greater)
- a tripod
- ability to shoot in RAW (optional)
- a torch (optional but useful for seeing the camera to set and for painting with light)
If you are unsure if your equipment is suitable, please get in touch.
Advice
As astro photography is working with very low light levels, which can introduce artifacts into the image, it can be beneficial to shoot in RAW, as it contains greater potential to extract greater detail and handle the artifacts more efficiently
PLEASE NOTE: As this event relies on clear skies, there is the possibility it will be cancelled at short notice and any money paid refunded. Should the weather change during the event, the training will continue, allowing you to learn the processes involved.
Booking
Pre-Booking is required as place numbers are limited. Early booking is recommended.
