Overview

Do you have an interest in taking people shots, but not sure where to start? Or perhaps you are ready to try out something new and further develop your photography skills? This course aims to get you started within the wonderful and interesting genre of portrait photography.

The course blends theoretical and practical sessions, aimed at increasing and developing your understanding, confidence and competence in portrait photography. A model will be present to support practical development.

Subjects covered include

• Composing the Portrait
• Posing the Subject
• Manipulating Light
• Natural Light Portraits
• Blending Natural and Artificial Light
• Portable Studio Portraits

Requirements

• Understanding of the Exposure Triangle and its parameters
• Camera with ability to set Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO independently
• Camera with hotshoe
• Hotshoe Flash (not essential, but recommended to get most from the course)

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Gary has years of experience as a commercial photographer and photography educator. His background was within the care sector, commencing as a mental health nurse, and moving towards Training Manager. He gained many useful skills during this career, transferring them into his photography and education business.
